Man United might be ready to challenge Arsenal in the hunt for Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves as they are not sure about signing Eduardo Camavinga, as per journalist Dean Jones.

The Eurosport journalist was on the Football Terrace podcast recently where he claimed that United are still keeping tabs on the Ruben Neves situation even though they continue to be linked with French prodigy Camavinga.

“In midfield, Ruben Neves is still a player they’re not having major talks with but they’re still in discussions there,” he told the Football Terrace podcast, as quoted by The Express.

“Arsenal are the ones that keep being linked with Ruben Neves but United are still in that conversation.

“You’re telling me after everything that’s gone on with Jadon Sancho they’re then on the side going to pay £100million on a deal that hasn’t been talked about until now.

“I think that price, for a player who’s got just a year left on his contract, how is that going to be a thing?

“Obviously look, Camavinga is one of the best teenage talents in world football. United would have been scouting him for a while. They were upset they didn’t get Jude Bellingham, they were convinced that was going to happen.

“This is all about that next gen thing. Any club of United’s size are looking at these players all the time, they have to be kept in the loop on what is happening, particularly when it comes to a point when he’s going to be leaving.

“I checked with a couple of people in France and they think it’s far more likely he stays in France, for now. They don’t think him joining Manchester United seems like the most likely outcome from here.”

Are Man United serious about signing Ruben Neves?

This is really bad news for Arsenal since Mikel Arteta has been chasing Ruben Neves for a long time as he was hoping to bring in the Wolves man as the long-term replacement to Granit Xhaka.

Xhaka is on his way out with Roma interested in signing him and someone like Neves would have been the ideal player to replace him.

Now it looks like Arsenal will have to fend off interest from Man United if they wish to sign the 24-year-old.

Man United are still focused on Eduardo Camavinga but as soon as they realize they will not be able to sign him then they are bound to shift their focus to Neves. And this is where the problems with begin for Arsenal.
