Arsenal might be able to sign this 24 Y/O midfielder for just £40m: A massive bargain buy?

Arsenal want to bring in a new central midfielder for the 2021/22 season and the latest player who has spiked their interest happens to be Ruben Neves.

Ruben Neves joined Wolves from FC Porto in 2017 and over the past four years, he has become a mainstay in the first-team, playing in 176 games for the club.

Arsenal have just failed to sign Emi Buendia while Martin Odegaard has also gone back to Real Madrid and right now they are also being linked with Brighton’s Yves Bissouma. But if The Daily Mail are correct then Ruben Neves could be available for a real bargain deal this summer.

The report claims: “Wolves are braced for an offer from Arsenal this week for Ruben Neves.

“Wolves are open to selling Portuguese midfielder Neves for the right price after his four years at Molineux, alerting the Gunners.

“The Midlands club sold Diogo Jota to Liverpool for £41m last summer and are expected to hold out for a similar sum for Neves, who has three years left on his current contract.

“Sportsmail understands Neves is aware of Arsenal’s interest and indicated his willingness to join the north Londoners to teammates.”

Arsenal will not be playing in Europe next season so naturally, Mikel Arteta will have a very limited budget to work with this summer. But if a player like Ruben Neves is available for £40 odd million then the Gunners should go all out to sign him – especially when he is ready to join them.

Granit Xhaka is wanted by Jose Mourinho at AS Roma so Arteta will need to bring in a new central midfielder with the utmost priority which is why they are constantly being linked with so many midfielders right now.

Ruben Neves is one of the best central/defensive midfielders in the Premier League right now and if Arsenal can bring him in then he has the potential to form a lethal partnership with Thomas Partey in the middle of the park.

We will obviously have to wait and see if the Arsenal management are ready to pay £40 million or not but if Ruben Neves is indeed available in that price bracket then this one should be a no-brainer for the North London side.
