Rangers FC manager Steven Gerrard recalled Ryan Hardie from his loan spell and the player is currently training with the Gers first team squad.

Initially, a lot of eyebrows were raised over this decision but now it seems, the manager has chalked out a plan for the centre-forward.

Hardie was loaned out to Livingston at the start of last year and the youngster has been there since.

This season, Ryan Hardie has been in exceptional form scoring five goals in just seven Premiership games and now the manager has suggested that the forward might stay with the club.

Talking to the Rangers’ official website, Steven Gerrard said:

“Ryan Hardie has come into the picture so it has been nice to work with four quality forwards.

“We haven’t had that luxury and that’s been really nice and a big positive.”

Ryan Hardie’s addition to the squad means the Gers now have four strikers amongst their ranks and this is where a lot of fans are not too pleased with the manager.

A number of fans feel that Ryan Hardie will rot amongst the ranks at the club now that Jermain Defoe has joined the club from AFC Bournemouth.

Ryan Hardie is out of contract at Rangers during the summer and going by Steven Gerrard’s statements, the club is inclined to provide a new deal to the forward during the summer.

But that whole situation will depend on whether Ryan Hardie can get a substantial amount of game time during the second half of the season.

Rangers are currently indulged in some warm weather training at Tenefire and will be back in action this coming weekend when they take on Cowdenbeath in the 4th round of the Scottish Cup.
