Man United take on Everton in the quarter-final of the EFL Cup on Wednesday and Scott McTominay along with Luke Shaw could be absentees for this match.

McTominay scored two goals vs Leeds United on Sunday in the Premier League but had to be withdrawn from the match in the second half – possibly due to a groin injury.

Luke Shaw has also recently made his comeback from an injury layoff but he could not finish the whole 90 minutes during the weekend. He came off the pitch after 60 minutes being replaced by Alex Telles.

And speaking after the match, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had admitted that both these players were not 100 percent after the match.

When asked about the duo he said, as reported: “Yeah, I would think so. Luke has been ill for a few days and was only passed fit this morning. He didn’t train yesterday.

“Scott, it seemed like a groin issue. I don’t know. Hopefully, it won’t be too long as he’s not had any muscle injuries before. But I don’t know how quickly he will recover.”

The duo are not likely to be fit in time to take on Everton but the Man United boss does not have too much to worry about since he has apt replacements in every department.

Luke Shaw has a direct replacement in the form of Alex Telles and the summer signing will slot straight into left-back.

As far as Scott McTominay is concerned, he was a guaranteed starter had be been fit but now that he’s out injured, the Scottish international will be replaced by Paul Pogba in central midfield.

The two injuries will also give the manager a chance to rotate his squad since they take on Leicester City, Wolves and Aston Villa within the next 10 days.
