Man United take on Aston Villa in the Premier League on Sunday and it looks like Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba remain doubts this game.

McTominay picked up an injury during Man United’s 3-1 win vs Brighton on the 10th of November and since then he’s been out of action.

The midfielder did have the whole of the international break to recover and there had been reports claiming he could return back to action against Villa this weekend.

But now, the Man United manager has cast doubts over his fitness claiming he is facing a race against time to be fit before Sunday.

We hope Scotty will be back as soon as possible, but he’s also been back home and I’ve not seen him, said the boss, as reported by ManUtd.com.

Maybe [he will be fit to face] Spurs but hopefully for Sunday.

As per the latest news, Scott McTominay will go through a late fitness test in order to determine his availability.

Apart from the Scottish international, Paul Pogba is also recovering from an injury but the World Cup winner is still some weeks away from regaining full fitness meaning he will not be part of the matchday squad for the Villa game.

“Paul is stepping up his recovery and let’s see how soon he’ll be match fit and available,” Ole added.

“Of course, he’ll be like a new signing for us. He’s not really been able to play for us and, when we get him back, it’ll be like a new world-class signing and world-class midfielder.

“We want him back as soon as possible. Sunday? No. I can’t say now as I’ve not been home and seen him. Let’s see where he’s at when he comes back and he starts training with us.”

With Pogba out of action, Fred will once again start in central midfield but if Scott McTominay cannot make himself available then Ole could be forced to play Andreas Pereira in midfield – something which hasn’t worked out too well this season.
