Sergio Aguero will be leaving Manchester City on a free transfer at the end of this season but local rivals Man United are not interested in signing him.
The player has been out of favour for most of the 2020-21 season at City but he still remains a world-class striker which is why many pundits have claimed that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer might try and sign him in the summer.
Obviously, Man United aren’t the only club who have been linked with the centre-forward but their manager has come out to make it clear that such a move is not going to happen.
“When I played for Man United, if a rival club would try to sign me and I’d gone to a rival club, where’s the loyalty?” he said in his press conference.
“Of course, loyalty is one of the values I rank highly. So I wouldn’t expect any player who had played for a club for 10 years to want to go to a local rival.”
“I know we’re professional but when you play for Man United, you don’t go to Man City,
“We’ve had examples of that and I didn’t really agree to those moves, to put it that way. I don’t want to name names, but you all know who I point my finger at. Enough said.”
There was a very slim chance that Man United will look to make a move for Sergio Aguero right after he had left Man City in the summer. And now, Solskjaer has crushed those chances as well.
Man United backing out does not make Sergio Aguero any less valuable since clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal and Barcelona among others have all been linked with the Argentine and most pundits think, the forward will want to secure a move away from the Premier League.
Arsenal are trying to lure in Aguero using the Mikel Arteta connection but Barcelona remain confident that they will be able to sign him at the end of the season due to the influence of Lionel Messi.
