Man United are looking to bring in a new striker during the summer transfer window and according to Paul Ince, his former side should look to sign Sergio Aguero.

Aguero has been the main superstar at Manchester City over the decade but this season, he has fallen down the pecking order and despite returning back from injury a fair bit ago, he just cannot get starts.

So far he has played in only eight Premier League matches this campaign, scoring a single goal and according to Ince, Man United should sign him up as a free agent in the summer.

“It’s not as if Harry Kane and Erling Haaland are the only two answers for Man Utd. Sergio Aguero might be leaving Man City, why shouldn’t United make a move for him?” asked Ince, told Ladbrokes, as quoted by The Mirror.

“You could see it now; if he wanted to stay in the Premier League and he’s living in Manchester, then I don’t think it would be a bad thing at all if they went and got Aguero.

“It happened with us back in 1992 when Howard Wilkinson was asking Sir Alex Ferguson about Denis Irwin. Fergie said there’d be no chance of that happening and suggested Leeds sold Cantona to them and within a couple of days that deal was done.

“It was just Fergie throwing a name out there and taking a chance, trying his luck. Maybe that’s what Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should do with Aguero this summer.”

Will Man United make a move for Sergio Aguero?

The Argentine is out of contract at Man City at the end of this season and by the looks of it, he is not going to be offered a new deal at the club.

But even at the age of 32, a player like Sergio Aguero will be valued highly by a lot of top European clubs.

Man United could part ways with Edinson Cavani this summer, in which case, Aguero will be the ideal replacement. But we doubt Ole will make a move for him or the player will even consider joining City’s biggest rival.

Clubs like Inter Milan and Chelsea are being linked with Sergio Aguero and there’s a big chance that the forward might be on his way to the Serie A next season.

And as far as Manchester United are concerned, Solskjaer will be keener to try and sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund instead of bringing in a 32-year-old and paying him inflated wages.
