Sergio Ramos has been linked with Premier League sides Chelsea and Manchester City but there’s a big chance that both these sides are going to miss out on the central defender.

Ramos has been with Real Madrid since 2005 but he is set to become a free agent at the end of this month which is why he has been linked with a move to England. Up until now, the Spanish side have been reluctant to offer him a new deal primarily due to his age and injury concerns but now it looks like Florentino Perez has finally decided to take a u-turn.

The report claims: “Ramos would be willing to accept a minimum offer from Real Madrid to continue. The defender no longer sees with bad eyes to continue another season with a salary reduction, according to the newspaper AS.

“But Ramos’ rush to renew in the barely two weeks left on his contract collides with the club’s real plans.

“From Real Madrid they already have planned the next season with Carlo Ancelotti and without their captain of the last 16 years.”

Will Sergio Ramos remain at Real Madrid for one more year?

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has been a big admirer of Sergio Ramos which is why the Etihad outfit are willing to offer the defender a two-year deal while Thomas Tuchel has also asked the Chelsea management to try and bring the Spanish international on board.

But if this latest report is true then the two Premier League sides are set to suffer a major setback.

Sergio Ramos might be 35 years old but his vast experiences would have been a real asset for either Man City or Chelsea.

If Ramos is ready to stay at Real Madrid for one more season then Chelsea should likely shift their focus to Raphael Varane who is another player who is having contract troubles with Real Madrid.

As far as Manchester City are concerned, they already have Ruben Dias, John Stones and Aymeric Laporte so unless a good enough defender is available in the market, we don’t think Pep Guardiola will be eager to dive back into the market.
