Man United have been heavily linked with a move for Leicester City playmaker James Maddison – as per various reports.

The Red Devils tried to sign the player during the summer transfer window but eventually failed to get their hands on the 23-year-old and it looks like Solskjaer is adamant to try again this month.

So far during the 2019-20 season, James Maddison has featured in 21 games for the Foxes managing to net 6 goals and provide three assists and everyone believes that he will be a fine addition to the Man United squad.

While Alan Shearer understands why Maddison might want the switch but the pundit has advised the 23-year-old not to leave the King Power.

“I totally understand why, if it’s true, Manchester United would want James Maddison because he’s a very, very good player,” Shearer told Coral via The Mirror.

“But I would be amazed if Leicester were to let him go in this transfer window.

“The way things are going at Leicester, the way he’s playing, what is at stake for Leicester… I cannot see them letting one of their top players go this January.

“If I was him, yes [I’d want to stay at Leicester] at this moment in time.

“When you look at the situation that Manchester United are in, in terms of challenging for top four, how much they have to improve, the time that will take.

“I understand that they’re a huge football club but, in terms of where James Maddison is at this moment in time, I think he’s better off staying at Leicester certainly until the end of the season and then weigh things up again then.”

Man United might be doing poorly for several seasons now and it’s true that not many big stars are currently eager to join them but Leicester’s great run isn’t written in stone either.

This season they have been performing superbly but there’s no guarantee that they will be able to challenge for the title next year as well and this is something that James Maddison will surely consider when deciding his future.
