Arsenal manager Unai Emery has kept a lot of faith on defender Shkodran Mustafi all throughout the 2018-19 season.

But it seems the manager has lost faith in the German international and is looking for a replacement.

Shkodran Mustafi joined the Gunners in 2016 from Valencia and last season, the 27-year-old played in 31 Premier League games for the Gunners. But his silly mistakes cost the club a large number of points all throughout the season.

Initially, during the summer, it was being claimed that Shkodran Mustafi would be part of Emery’s defensive line up next season but now it looks like the Spanish boss has made up his mind to offload the German.

BBC Sport reporter David Ornstein has claimed that Emery has lost faith in the centre-back and he will be most probably be heading out this summer.

The respected journalist said on BBC Radio 5 Live(as reported): “I was told that after the Europa League final that Unai Emery, who had always put his faith in Shkodran Mustafi despite a number of high-profile mistakes, has decided enough is enough with him and he is no longer in favour of keeping him, so he could be sold.”

Shkodran Mustafi is without a doubt a good centre-back but if Arsenal want to get back into the Champions League next season then they will have to bring in with a lot more character.

Emery needs a leader in defence and Mustafi just does not fit the brief. And the fact that he earns £90,000-a-week, makes no sense at all.

So by selling him, the Arsenal boss will not only freeing up locker room space but will also free up a lot of funds.

Ornstein has also revealed that the Gunners have tried to sell Shkodran Mustafi in every transfer window since they signed him.

But clearly, they have failed miserably.

And this summer too no major club has been linked with the centre-back and so fans fear that Emery might not be able to find a buyer for him before the summer transfer window ends.

So either, Shkodran Mustafi will end up staying at the club for one more season, or Arsenal will have to sell him off at a massive loss in order to make room for the new arrivals.
