Celtic FC want to bring in a new goalkeeper before the 2020-21 season begins and 29-year-old Vaclav Hladky is amongst the possible targets.

The keeper was playing for St Mirren last season but his contract with the SPFL club expired at the end of last month meaning he is now available as a free agent.

But as per a report in the Herald, the Bhoys could have a really hard time in trying to sign the 29-year-old shot-stopper during the summer transfer window.

The report claims: “Former St Mirren goalkeeper Vaclav Hladky is a top target for Polish champions Legia Warsaw.

“Legia – who will play European football qualifiers this coming season – are hopeful of convincing the player to join despite interest from elsewhere.

“Herald and Times Sport understands Slavia Prague are also very keen on Hladky however any deal with the Czech outfit would depend on whether or not current number one Ondrej Kolar moves on, with Valencia in the market.

“The news may come as a blow to Celtic who are on the lookout for a new goalkeeper as Hladky is understood to be on a shortlist of potential players Neil Lennon likes.”

Will Celtic FC be able to sign Vaclav Hladky?

Neil Lennon might not be able to get his hands on Fraser Forster as a number of big English clubs want to sign him in the summer.

But with the entry of Legia Warsaw, there’s a big chance that Celtic FC might miss out on the ex-Mirren man as well.

If Celtic miss out on the 29-year-old then it will be a huge blow for the Bhoys as they will then have to go out and spend money on a new keeper, something they would love to avoid after such a prolonged lockdown.

Apart from Vaclav Hladky, Celtic FC are also keeping tabs on players like Joe Hart and Claudio Bravo but these players will need some major convincing to move out of England and spend the remainder of their professional career in Scotland.
