Napoli are itching to offload Victor Osimhen from their books and by the looks of it, PSG are the current favourites to sign the forward.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Nigerian international is ready to join the French side but Paris Saint-Germain are yet to agree on a fee with Napoli. Even though PSG still have a lot of work to do, this is a major blow for Chelsea who have been linked to Osimhen for the longest time.
Victor Osimhen has been one of the best players for Napoli in the previous two seasons scoring 176 goals along with 18 assists in just 133 matches and he was majorly influential in Napoli lifting the Serie A title. Just Napoli had tied him down to a new contract with a €130m release clause last year and this massive release clause is turning out to be a major hurdle in offloading the forward.
While PSG are interested in signing the 25-year-old, they are not willing to pay €130 million and as per some rumours, the French team is only ready to spend around €90 million.
While PSG and Napoli haggle over the correct transfer fee, Chelsea could use this situation to their advantage because Napoli want to sign Romelu Lukaku as Osimhen’s replacement and the Blues have the chance to use the 31-year-old as leverage to sign Victor Osimhen.
The new Chelsea manager is desperate to add a new centre-forward before the 24/25 season begins and in a bid to do so, they could offer a cash-plus-player deal to snatch the Napoli forward from PSG’s hands.
The Premier League side won’t mind paying €70-80 million for Victor Osimhen and if they can add Romelu Lukaku to this deal, they will have a great chance of beating PSG.
€70-80 million plus Romelu Lukaku will still fall short of Osimhen’s €130 million release clause because Lukaku’s current valuation is only €30 million but some experts believe Napoli are now ready to slightly lower their demands because no one is ready to pay €130 million for Victor Osimhen.
Napoli won’t mind accepting around €110 million for the Nigerian international and if these reports are true then Chelsea can certainly throw the kitchen sink to try and beat PSG in this transfer race.
However, Victor Osimhen isn’t the only striker on Chelsea’s radar because the Blues are also being linked with the likes of Viktor Gyokeres, Ivan Toney and Benjamin Sesko.
