Spurs are really struggling to get their act together and according to Gabby Agbonlahor, Nuno Espirito Santo should put Harry Kane on the bench with immediate effect.

Harry Kane has played in nine Premier League matches so far this season but has managed to score only one goal. Most of his goals this season have come against the minnows in the Conference League. According to Agbonlahor, not only should the forward be dropped but the Lilywhites should also try and sell him in January.

“If I was Pep Guardiola, if I was Daniel Levy, if I was the Man City owners, I’d be negotiating now for £100million in January,” Agbonlahor told talkSPORT.

“If I’m Daniel Levy I’m phoning Pep and saying ‘I’m negotiating now, the £150million doesn’t matter and we will take £80million, £90million or £100million. We just want to get him out of here’.

“He’s not interested. He doesn’t want to be at the club, he’s not working for the team.

“Of course you drop him. When Harry Kane was injured last season and season before, Son was playing his best football.

“He looks like a player trapped and is sulking, not interested. When the Spurs fans can boo one of their best ever players, you know something is wrong. Nuno Espirito Santo has got to put him on the bench, he’s not interested.”

Will Harry Kane be benched against Everton?

Spurs’ loss to Man United has put further pressure on Santo and now the manager needs to make some bold selection calls. Ole faced a similar situation on Saturday and the United manager responded by making a change in his team’s formation.

Next up, Spurs take on Everton in the Premier League and all eyes will be on the manager to see if he changes the system or maybe drop Harry Kane to the bench. Kane was almost non-existent against Manchester United and any other player would be immediately dropped at the back of such a horrible performance.

But we don’t think Nuno will have the courage to drop someone like him, more so since he doesn’t have any proper backup.

Tottenham have been relying on Kane’s goalscoring abilities for several seasons but now that he isn’t firing, the North London side have no Plan B.

The manager can try to use someone like Son up front against Everton but there’s a very slim chance he will walk down that path and put Harry Kane on the bench – even with his back against the wall.

Will Harry Kane be sold in January?

Harry Kane was really interested in joining Manchester City during the summer but Levy refused to let him leave. That decision though has clearly backfired for Spurs.

Kane has been a shadow of himself this season and the sensible thing to do will be to cash in on him at the start of the new year itself. But we doubt if Daniel Levy will want to sell his most prized asset in January.

Not many clubs will want to sell their strikers during the middle of the season so even if Tottenham can get around £100 million for Kane, it will be very hard for them to find a solid replacement in that time frame.

We think any deal will only be possible at the end of this season and the only hope for Spurs now will be that Harry Kane finds form really soon, possibly against Everton next weekend.
