Arsenal are trying to bring Leicester City’s James Maddison on board but according to Roy Keane, the midfielder should resist this temptation and remain at the King Power.

The Gunners have made Maddison their first-priority signing right now and it’s being claimed the North London are even willing to meet Leicester’s transfer demands to get this signing over the line.

But Roy Keane believes Arsenal are yet to sort their mess which is why the England international should steer clear this summer.

“Arsenal are a huge club,” the Manchester United legend said on ITV, as quoted. “But I don’t think it is a step up for him to leave Leicester where they are to go to Arsenal.

“It is probably backwards. At this moment in time, Leicester are trying to challenge for the Champions League [places], they won a trophy last year.

“Arsenal are short yet.”

Should James Maddison refuse a move to Arsenal?

Brendan Rodgers had recently made it clear that the club are under no pressure to sell James Maddison plus Arsenal are yet to make a formal move for him.

The Foxes boss told Daily Mail: ‘I know he is very happy here and he wants to be here.

‘If anything comes to the club, Jon Rudkin (director of football) would tell me straightaway and I would deal with it then, but there has been nothing that’s come my way.

‘I’ve not been told anything to say [he won’t stay]. He is happy in training and he is working hard, and he is a talented, important member of the squad.

‘He had his season disrupted by injury last year but hopefully this season he can show what a real top player he is.’

Keane is bang on about the fact that Arsenal are in total disarray and it will require a few seasons worth of work before they get back amongst the big boys.

Right now, their biggest target will be to get back into Europe and as of now, even the Europa League will do for them.

Leicester City, on the other hand, have narrowly missed out on Champions League football during the last two seasons and they are once again amongst the favourites to fight for the top-four spot.

So, it really does not make any sense for James Maddison to move out of Leicester City and join the Emirates outfit.

Also, at Leicester, James Maddison is more or less a guaranteed starter so he has no real reason to secure an exit during the ongoing transfer window. He saw a slight dip in form last season but he still remains one of the key players for Rodgers’ side.
