Brahim Diaz will most likely be the fourth-choice attacking option at Real Madrid next season but still, the club is not interested in offloading him.
Madrid had signed Brahim Diaz from Manchester City in 2019 but since then, the 24-year-old has featured in only 65 games for the Spanish side. Last summer, he was back from a loan spell in Milan and since then he featured in 31 La Liga games with 15 goal contributions.
However, with the likes of Endrick and Kylian Mbappe coming in, Diaz is going to fall down the pecking order next season which is why clubs like Tottenham Hotspur and Roma think they will be able to sign him on a cut-price deal. Most experts thought Real Madrid would sanction a sale without much fuss but they have made it clear that they do not wish to get rid of him during the ongoing transfer window, as per a report by Footmercato.
Should Madrid cash in on Brahim Diaz?
Real Madrid had paid €17 million to Man City but the attacker has found life really tough at the Bernabeu. He did play a lot of games this season but with the big boys coming in and Rodrygo not leaving, Diaz will mostly warm the benches next campaign.
Diaz can play as a No. 10 and as a second striker but in both those positions he has a lot of competitors. In the attacking midfielder’s role, he will have to compete with the likes of Arda Guler and Bellingham while up top, he will have to prove his worth against Mbappe, Rodrygo and Endrick.
It really doesn’t make sense to inflate the books by holding on to him which is why Carlo Ancelotti should offload him amidst interest from big names like Tottenham Hotspur. He is currently valued at €40 million with three years remaining on his contract and if Spurs are serious about signing him, they will very happily pay €50-55 million for him.
Brahim Diaz wants to remain at Madrid because it’s the biggest club in the world where he can play in the Champions League but there’s no need for his manager to hold onto him. According to Salary Sport, he earns around €140,000 per week and with a big earner like Kylian Mbappe coming in, it wouldn’t hurt to make some space in the accounting books.
Spurs need a new attacker which means they will surely come back for Diaz and Daniel Levy is willing to pay a slightly premium price, Madrid should be sensible and send the 24-year-old packing.
