This Real Madrid star who’s wanted by Man United might be Lopetegui’s first signing at West Ham: Can he be of any help?

Manchester United have been linked with a move for Real Madrid’s Joselu and now, fellow Premier League rivals West Ham United have also joined the race, as per GIVEMESPORT.

David Moyes will leave the Hammers and Julen Lopetegui is set to become their new manager. The Spanish manager will take charge in the summer and he wants to make Joselu one of his first signings at the London Stadium.

Joselu is currently on loan at Real Madrid and the striker helped his boyhood club reach the Champions League final by scoring two late goals vs Bayern Munich. His loan spell will be over at the end of this season and while he is hoping that Madrid will sign him permanently, it does not look like a major possibility.

Will Joselu join Man United or West Ham if he leaves Spain?

Joselu has moved through several clubs throughout his career and he’s spent time in England with Newcastle United and Stoke City but neither of these spells were successful.

He had scored just seven goals in 52 appearances for the Magpies and only 4 goals in 27 matches at Stoke. This season, the 34-year-old has scored 17 goals in 46 games across all competitions.

These season’s stats might feel like Joselu could find success in the EPL but the forward is in the twilight of his career and it makes no sense to bring him on board. He currently earns €54,000 per week and his market value is only €5 million so financially it makes sense to sign him but it’s very hard to see him find success in England in a third spell.

Man United are looking to bring in a new striker who will share the goal-scoring load with Rasmus Hojlund but they have wasted time and money on ageing players like Casemiro, Eriksen and Varane and the last thing they will want is a repeat with Joselu.

Julen Lopetegui was the Real Madrid B manager when Joselu was developing as a youngster with Los Blancos but the Spanish manager is going to usher in a new age at West Ham United and it will send a very wrong message to all the fans if the new boss makes 34-year-old Joselu his first major signing at the club.

Joselu has done wonderfully well to take Madrid to the UCL final and hopefully, he gets to lift the trophy with his boyhood club but he’s just not cut out to be a backup striker at one of the Premier League clubs.
