Manchester United have ended the season is a really pathetic way – failing to qualify for the Champions League next season.

When the club appointed Solskjaer as their interim boss after sacking Jose Mourinho everything looked very rosy for the Norwegian.

But as soon as Solskaer was appointed as the permanent manager, things started going downhill for the manager.

Man United have been in a poor run of form during the past couple of months and it is more or less certain that the club will be preparing for a major overhaul during the summer transfer window.

“I’ve said it: I want my team to be the hardest-working team in the league. That’s what we were under Sir Alex [Ferguson]. That’s what we’ve always been.” Solskjaer said after United’s 4-0 loss to Everton.

“Giggsy [Ryan Giggs], Becks [David Beckham], Gary Neville, Dennis Irwin, whoever. [Regardless of] the talent you’ve got, you ran more than anyone. Every single week you’d shift up and down that pitch for your team-mates.

“We have to stick together as a team. We can’t change the whole squad but it’s one step at a time. I’m going to be successful here and there are players there that won’t be part of that successful team, but there are many of them that do have it.”

And now reports are claiming that Ole Gunnar Solksjaer has told his players to reports back for pre-season on July 1.

A source told ESPN(as reported): “The players weren’t fit enough when Ole arrived.

“They worked really hard to change that in December and January but they hit the wall in the end, and that was probably inevitable.”

This decision might seem harsh but it has certainly gathered a lot of praise from the Man United fans who are pleased with how their manager is trying to show his ruthless side.

Man United will kick off their pre-season tour in Australia where they take on Perth Glory on July 13 following which they will take on the likes of Inter Milan and Spurs across various destination in Asia.
