Liverpool join Real Madrid in the race to sign this Spurs hitman: Will he decide to leave North London?

Son Heung-Min Spurs

Real Madrid have already registered an interest in Spurs frontman Son Heung-min and as per journalist Dean Jones(h/t Fotmob), Liverpool are now also keeping tabs on the South Korean.

The Anfield outfit let Sadio Mane join Bayern Munich in the summer and his absence is really hurting them this season. While Mane is flying high in Germany, Liverpool are currently ninth on the Premier League table.

Jurgen Klopp is badly missing Mane’s presence which is probably why he has asked his management to try and sign someone like Son Heung-min.

Son joined Spurs in 2015 and to date, he’s netted 136 goals across all competitions for the club. This season, he has scored three and assisted two goals in the league for Antonio Conte’s team.

Will Son Heung-min choose to leave Tottenham?

He looks really happy with life under Antonio Conte but the new manager has signed Richarlison, a player who is a direct rival for Son’s place in the first XI.

Kulusevski seems to be one of Conte’s favourite players so down the line, Richarlison and Son could be fighting for a spot as the third attacker in the team. This is one reason which could prompt the South Korean to leave at the end of this season.

There are some unconfirmed initial rumours that the 30-year-old actually wants to head out.

Also, with teams like Real Madrid and Liverpool interested, not many players will dare to snub these giants and remain put.

Qualifying for the Champions will be another factor for Son’s transfer because if Spurs cannot finish in the top four then it will be really hard for them to hold onto players like Kane and Son.

Which team is more likely to get their hands on Son Heung-min?

Real Madrid are obviously the leaders in this race because they are a team who guarantee titles each and every season. So far, Son Heung-min hasn’t won even a single trophy in his professional career but that drought will surely end if he ends up joining Madrid.

Liverpool though are a team who can give him a lot more game time because Luis Diaz is yet to settle down at the club. Someone like Son has already proved his worth in the Premier League so he will take no time to settle down at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp badly needs someone who can come in and immediately fill the void left by Sadio Mane and the current Spurs winger can certainly be that man.

However, if Liverpool want to seriously move for Son Heung-min then they will have to clear out some attackers because there’s no way he will join a side where his selection is not a given every matchday.
