Axel Disasi to Arsenal
Axel Disasi to Arsenal

The likes of Arsenal and Southampton FC have been linked with a move for Reims central defender Axel Disasi over the past couple of months.

And now Reims president Jean-Pierre Caillot has revealed that the defender has a lot of admirers in the English Premier League which could very well be his next destination in the summer.

“As I speak, he has little chance of going to Spain,” Caillot told L’Equipe.

“We have more interesting offers from other championships. I advise you to read the foreign press and especially English.”

Southampton FC or Arsenal: Where’s Disasi heading?

Disasi moved to the first-team of the Ligue 1 side in 2017 and this season, the centre-back has been one of the best players in the Reims squad, featuring in 27 top division games.

But with just over a year left on his current deal, the 22-year-old is more than certain to head out of France in the summer and as per his club’s president, the Premier League could be his next destination.

Arsenal have been keeping tabs on the player for some time but we think Mikel Arteta is not too serious about making a move for Axel since he already has a large contingent of central defenders at his disposal.

The Gunners boss has players like David Luiz, Sokratis, Pablo Mari, Cedric Soares and Shkodran Mustafi and on top of that, he will also be getting the services of William Saliba in the coming few months.

So clearly Arsenal will not be too keen to make a formal move for Axel Disasi which means it’s probably Southampton FC who have approached the French club over a possible transfer.

The Saints have been at the forefront for a really long time and multiple reports have suggested they are the ones likely to land Disasi in the summer.

But this is not yet certain since apart from Arsenal and Southampton FC, clubs like West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked with the 22-year-old.
