Celtic FC are keen to hold onto winger Mohamed Elyounoussi who is on loan from Premier League side Southampton FC, according to some reports.

The 25-year-old is set to head back to England in the summer but as per Alan Hutton, Bhoys boss Neil Lennon might try and keep both Mohamed Elyounoussi and Fraser Forster at the club by using Olivier Ntcham in a swap deal.

Hutton had told Football Insider: “It’s a big price tag but I think they’re playing the game well, the obviously know they want a couple of players from Southampton so if they can up the value for Ntcham it might make the deal a little bit easier to get the players they want.

“I understand what they’re doing, clubs always want the highest price for their player and they’ll probably meet somewhere else

“Obviously it opens up the door for Forster and Elyounoussi, they could be part of this deal. There’s a whole host of variables in that deal so it could be a good thing for Celtic and obviously they want to bring players in from Southampton so it could be a good bargaining chip.”

Mohamed Elyounoussi not moving back to Southampton?

Now as per another report in Football Insider, Elyounoussi might not be heading back to Southampton FC since Spanish side Real Sociedad want to sign him for the upcoming season.

The report claims: “Real Sociedad are plotting a move to sign Celtic loan star Mohamed Elyounoussi this summer, Football Insider understands.

“A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Sociedad are ready to explore a permanent move for Elyounoussi and battle Celtic for his signature.”

Sociedad are currently fourth on the La Liga table and a possible Champions League status side come calling, we doubt if the 25-year-old can resist a move to Spain.

But having said that, Celtic do have Olivier Ntcham who could turn out to be the major bargaining chip in this transfer deal. Southampton FC want to sign Ntcham during the summer and the Saints might use the duo of Forster and Elyounoussi, in order to convince Celtic to part ways with their midfielder.

During the 2019-20 season, the Southampton loanee has played in 20 matches across all competitions for Celtic having scored seven and assisted six goals.
