Southampton are on a dismal run of form in the Premier League in recent months and this is partly due to a series of injured players. Now the name of Kyle Walker-Peters has just been added to that list.
Ibrahima Diallo and Theo Walcott have already been ruled out with a muscle and thigh injury respectively and now Hasenhuttl has revealed that the right-back will miss their next league game against Chelsea this weekend.
“Still not very happy about what’s going on with our injuries,” the boss said, as per Southamptonfc.com.
“Kyle Walker-Peters is out for a few weeks, maybe, and that definitely hurts us. He was a big part of our good run and when he was not there we’ve had a worse run. It’s a never-ending story of this season, players getting injured.
“With Ibra [Diallo] and Theo Walcott too, we’re missing three important players for our game. We have to trust the players we do have available.
“The first win after such a run is always the most difficult, but the most important, and one we’re fighting for.”
Kyle Walker-Peters has been a key part of the Southampton first-team squad featuring in 19 Premier League games so far and his absence will be a big setback for Hasenhuttl and his ambitions of getting back to winning ways.
With Peters out of contention, Jack Stephens will play at right-back on Saturday and this a real cause of concern for the Saints boss since most of the 27-year-old’s performances this season have been off the bench.
