Sporting midfielder Bruno Fernandes will surely be one of the top transfer targets during the summer and already the likes of Man United, Man City and Liverpool have been linked to the 24-year-old.

Bruno Fernandes made 33 league appearances for Sporting this past season and ended up scoring 20 goals and making 13 assists.

And now speaking about the attacking midfielder, former Man United manager Jose Mourinho has claimed that he was surprised by the number of goals that Bruno Fernandes had managed to score during the 2018-19 campaign.

“I was surprised by the season of Bruno Fernandes. It was easy to predict quality, he is a very good player, but scored a very high number of goals for a midfield player,” Mourinho told Eleven Sports(via Liverpool Echo).

“It shows that you need to have instinct and qualities to score and he has it all. He strikes the ball well, heads well, cool when he is one-on-one with the goalkeeper.

“He finds space in the penalty area. It’s all there.”

The midfielder recently talked about his future hinting to a possible transfer during the summer.

“I honestly don’t know,” Fernandes told Portuguese TV channel SIC when asked to clarify his future(via the Mirror).

“I like to focus on things once the season is over when I can think with calmness.

“The financial aspect always weights a lot, we have a short career. But staying here, I will always be able to raise money, it’s not a financial issue.

“It’s a matter of having dreams left to realise. It’s a difficult choice, we never know what’s going to happen. My connection to Sporting is very strong and it was even stronger after the events [in Alcochete] and having come back [to Sporting].”

While Man United and Liverpool have been keeping tabs on Bruno Fernandes for a couple of months now, but recent reports have suggested that it is Manchester City who are currently leading the race to sign him during the summer transfer window.
