WOW: Here’s how Spurs are helping Steven Gerrard keep one of his key players at Ibrox despite some heavy interest

French club Bordeaux’s interest in Rangers’ striker Alfredo Morelos has been all over the paper during the past couple of weeks and it seemed that this was about to get stronger next week.

Bordeaux had made an offer of £3.75 million for the Colombian which was swiftly rejected by the Gers claiming that the amount was nowhere close to what they wanted.

Gerrard had gone on record to say:

“If we sell a good player then we’ll have to go into the transfer market and pay more than these bids to replace him. So it doesn’t make sense to me to accept a bid at that level.”

But the French club do not intend to give up that easily as they are badly in need of a centre-forward and also have money to spare after selling of Malcolm for a hefty price.

This invariably means that Bordeaux will once again come up Alfredo Morelos – this time with an improved bid.

And this is where Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur might be able to help Steven Gerrard’s Rangers.

According to reports, the Lilywhites are planning to offer their out of favour striker Fernando Llorente to Bordeaux.

Mauricio Pochettino has no use of Llorente especially with Harry Kane up front and the London outfit wants to offload him by the end of this month – either on loan or on a permanent deal.

If Spurs are really serious about offering Llorente to Bordeaux then the French club will welcome him with open arms in which case Rangers will get to keep Alfredo Morelos during the season.

Steven Gerrard has hinted to the fact that he wants close to £12 million for Alfredo Morelos and if Bordeaux are really interested in shelling out that much money then they would rather spend in on a seasoned pro like Fernando Llorente.

Since joining Spurs, Llorente has spent most of his time warming the benches and the Spaniard will not hesitate to join the French Ligue in order to find a new challenge.
