Roberto Martinez wanted by Tottenham Hotspur Belgium

Premier League side Spurs are out in the market looking for a new manager who will take charge of the club but with passing day, their quest seems to be proving even more difficult.

Initially, Daniel Levy wanted to sign Julian Nagelsmann but the young manager has agreed to become the next boss at Bayern Munich and will take charge of the German giants next month.

Then, Spurs targetted Brendan Rodgers but even the Leicester City boss has refused to switch allegiances. Now, as per the gossip vines, Levy has made contact with 47-year-old Roberto Martinez.

Martinez has been managing the Belgian national team and the Spurs chairman thinks he will be the right man to bring back the culture of entertaining and attacking football to the club.

But even this one might prove to be a dead-end for Spurs since ESPN are claiming that Real Madrid have Roberto Martinez on their short-list as a potential replacement Zinedine Zidane.

The report claims: “Real Madrid are considering Massimiliano Allegri and club legend Raul to replace Zinedine Zidane if the French coach decides to leave at the end of the season, sources have told ESPN.

“Madrid would like Zidane to stay until 2022, but preparations are already underway in the event of a possible exit, according to sources. In addition to Allegri and Raul, Belgium coach Roberto Martinez has also been discussed as a potential replacement.”

Managers like Massimiliano Allegri will obviously be at the top of Florentino Perez’s wishlist so Spurs still have some time to move quickly and secure the signing of Roberto Martinez.

But if Real Madrid do decide to make a move for the former Everton boss then there’s no way Spurs will be able to compete with them. Madrid are one of the biggest clubs in world football and on the other hand, Tottenham will not even be in the Champions League next season.

Also, there’s a big chance that players like Son and Harry Kane will want to leave the club in the summer. So in such a scenario if Roberto Martinez was told to choose between Real Madrid and Spurs, the choice, we think, would be pretty obvious.
