Roberto Martinez wanted by Tottenham Hotspur Belgium

Spurs are currently on the lookout for a new manager and according to various reports, a lot of people have been shortlisted for this job.

Julian Nagelsmann was their top target but the young manager has chosen to take charge of Bayern Munich. Then their next option, Brendan Rodgers has also reportedly rejected to join Tottenham Hotspur.

Now, Daniel Levy is moving further down the pecking order, and according to The Sunday Mirror, the Spurs chairman has set his sights on Roberto Martinez and Nuno Espirito Santo.

Some sources claim Spurs have not yet given up hopes of luring in Rodgers from Leicester City but they also do not want to close all other doors in the process.

Martinez is currently the manager of the Belgium national side and any and he has pretty great experience of managing in English thanks to his time at Wigan and Everton. It’s still unclear if Roberto Martinez will be ready to move to club management or not but any deal will only be struck after the Euros.

The other name, Nuno Espirito Santo is also one of the big names in the Premier League but he has given so much of his time and effort in building Wolves so we doubt if the 47-year-old will agree to join Spurs in the summer.

Apart from these two big names, the report also claims that current interim coach Ryan Mason is also in contention to become the next Tottenham boss.

Clubs like Man United, Chelsea and Arsenal have already walked on this path of appointing one of their ex-players as their manager and if Mason can keep Spurs in the Champions League then he’s in with a great chance of getting the job permanently.

It’ll still take a lot of effort for Ryan Mason to prove his worth to Daniel Levy but as per the various rumours, the chairman is not too keen to wait until the summer to bring in a replacement to Jose Mourinho.
