Spurs are currently 10th on the Premier League table with four points from their first three matches and it is about to get a whole lot tougher because this weekend, they will welcome Arsenal for the North London Derby.
Tottenham started their new campaign with a draw against Leicester City and right before the international break, the Lilywhites suffered a 2-0 loss at the hands of Newcastle United. Their home game against Arsenal last campaign ended in a 2-3 defeat and they are winless in their previous four encounters against Mikel Arteta.
This is a home game for Spurs so the onus will be on Ange’s team to be positive and pick up a win but with the kind of form they are in right now, a well-fought draw will not be a bad result either.
Tottenham’s team news and injuries:
Richarlison picked up a muscle injury in training so he is going to miss out but that will allow summer signing Dominic Solanke to make his home debut for Spurs.
Solanke did miss the previous two games for Spurs due to an ankle issue but according to Ange, the striker’s omission from the Newcastle game was merely an extra precaution.
“Dom’s[Solanke] improved as well and trained the back half of this week. We still have two days to go with those guys so hopefully they get through training ok and are available,” the manager said on Friday.
With Dominic Solanke coming in, Kulusevski will move out to the right flank.
Micky van de Ven missed international duty because he was recovering from a knee injury and he will be fine and fully fit to face Arsenal on Sunday.
Ange has updated: “Micky’s good, he’s trained all the way through the international break and it was good for him to stay with us to build him back up so he’s ready to go.”
Yves Bissouma limped off during Mali’s win over Eswatini and the midfielder will be assessed before Arsenal’s visit.
It will be a big blow if he was to miss out but thankfully, the Spurs boss has backup in the form of Rodrigo Bentancur.
Brennan Johnson made a positive impact after coming on in the second half vs Newcastle but the 23-year-old will not be lucky enough to get a start on Sunday.
Spurs predicted line up vs Arsenal:
Predicted Starting XI(4-2-3-1): Vicario; Udogie, Van de Ven, Romero, Porro; Bissouma/Bentancur, Pape Sarr; Son, Maddison, Kulusevski; Solanke.
