Arsenal appointed Unai Emery as their new boss during the summer and the manager has brought in a number of new signings during the transfer window.

But a whole bunch of players have also left the club during this time and amongst this perhaps the biggest name was midfielder Jack Wilshere.

Wilshere chose to move out of the Emirates after a long association with the club as Emery could not promise him a key role in the first eleven. The midfielder refused to sign a new with the London outfit and chose to join West Ham United as a free agent.

And this move caused a fair bit of stir amongst the both the Arsenal and the Hammers fans.

While some believed that Wilshere would be a fine addition to Manuel Pellegrini’s new-look side and that the Gunners have made a blunder of letting him go, others felt that the Hammers had just added one more liability to their squad.

With all these different comments coming in about Jack Wilshere a number of people were waiting to see how the midfielder would perform during West Ham United’s first game against Liverpool.

Sadly though, Wilshere failed to create any sort of magic in midfield as Liverpool came out 4-0 winner at Anfield.

Even though the whole West Ham team were bad but Jack Wilshere was particularly average.

He was so bad during the game that he actually managed to string together only 29 passes during the game which believe it or not is even less than Liverpool’s goalkeeper Alisson Becker.

Jack Wilshere was deployed by Manuel Pellegrini just behind Marko Arnautovic but this was nowhere close to the level of performances that the 26-year-old is capable of.

If this performance was made by another debutante then we would have brushed it aside thinking that this was his first game. Even though this was Jack Wilshere’s debut for the Hammers, the English International is a seasoned pro when it comes to the Premier League.

West Ham United next take on AFC Bournemouth at home and this should be a fairly easy match for Manuel Pellegrini and his men to bring back their much-needed confidence.
