Celtic FC are planning to bring in a new centre-forward this month and it seems Brendan Rodgers has set his eyes on England.

According to reports, the Hoops are planning to make a move for Sunderland centre-forward Josh Maja.

Josh Maja is out of contract at Sunderland at the end of the season and he is free to talk to interested clubs this month. And Rodgers is eager to bring him on board before the transfer window shuts down.

Josh Maja has been in sublime for this season for the Black Cats scoring 15 goals in just 29 games.

But the biggest problem right now is that Celtic aren’t the only club who are interested in the forward.

As per reports, Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur have also shown an interest in Josh Maja and are planning to make a move for him sometime this week.

Sunderland are fully aware of Maja’s potential and have offered him a new contract in which he has been offered wages which are seven times higher than what he is getting now.

But reports suggest that the 20-year-old has rejected the offer and wants to move out of the club during the summer.

While Spurs will be pushing for a free transfer at the end of the season but Celtic are more than willing to pay a transfer fee to Sunderland and bring Josh Maja onboard this month.

UPDATE:

As per the latest reports, Josh Maja seems to have snubbed the interest from both Spurs as well as Celtic and has agreed on a new deal with a German club.

While the source claims that the name of the buying club is still a mystery but Josh Maja has agreed on personal terms with them.
