Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce is looking to bring in some key reinforcements this summer and as per the latest reports, the Magpies are trying to get their hands on Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham and Billy Gilmour.

The duo has hardly featured for Chelsea since Thomas Tuchel has taken charge which is why Bruce feels his club have a great chance at signing the pair on a loan deal for the 2021-22 season.

The Northern Echo claims: “NEWCASTLE UNITED have signalled their interest in Billy Gilmour and Tammy Abraham – and will attempt to secure a loan deal if Chelsea agree to make either player available for a temporary move next season.

“They have spoken to Chelsea officials about their interest in Gilmour and Abraham, and while the Blues are currently reluctant to agree to loan moves for either player, there is a feeling that position could change as the summer progresses.”

Tammy Abraham has fallen down the pecking order at Chelsea during the second half of the season and it’s clear that he has no future at the club till Thomas Tuchel is in charge.

He has been linked with clubs like Aston Villa so we are not sure if Newcastle United will be able to sign him on a loan deal, especially since Villa could be moving in with a permanent offer for the forward.

Billy Gilmour will also find it hard to break into Chelsea’s first-team next season with Jorginho and Kante ahead of him. And if the club can get their hands on someone like Declan Rice then young Gilmour’s time at Chelsea could be well and truly over.

Chelsea should not have any major issues in letting both these players leave during the summer but Tammy Abraham and Billy Gilmour are being sent out on loan deals, the Blues will make sure they put in a buy-in clause in the deal.

Chelsea are willing to sell Tammy Abraham for a reported fee of around £40 million but there’s no way NUFC will be able to pay such a massive transfer fee so a loan arrangement is their only hope of getting their hands on the England international.

It’s still early days but and there’s no way that Newcastle United will have smooth sailing in this deal but if Steve Bruce is ready to take both these players in at the same time then Chelsea could scrap the difficulties of arranging two buyers and let Gilmour and Tammy Abraham join the St James’s Park outfit.
