Lampard might be risking a player’s career when Chelsea take on Leicester City: How?

Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham picked up an injury during the Blues’ 2-2 draw vs Arsenal a week ago and right now he remains a doubt for the Leicester City clash in the Premier League.

Chelsea travel to the King Power on Saturday and if Abraham is not fully fit to play then it will be Michy Batshuayi who will likely start in his place upfront.

And according to pundit Michael Owen, the absence of Tammy Abraham is gonna be one of the main reasons why the Blues might have to settle for a draw this weekend.

Owen wrote for BetVictor: “Leicester have won eight of their 12 home league games so far this term, but I expect Chelsea to share the spoils at the King Power in this clash between the sides who start the weekend in the last two Champions League places in the table.

“At the time of writing, it is unsure whether Frank Lampard will be able to call on the services of striker Tammy Abraham who was injured against Arsenal in the Blues’ last league game and missed the FA Cup tie at the KCOM Stadium, Hull at the weekend.

“Irrespective of the Foxes’ League Cup semi-final result midweek, I think it will be a point apiece in Saturday’s early kick-off.”

Now though as The Telegraph has been claiming that Frank Lampard might ask Tammy Abraham to play through the pain barrier on Saturday given the winter break’s coming up.

The report states: “Chelsea may ask Tammy Abraham to play through the pain barrier for Saturday’s trip to Leicester City if they cannot sign a new striker in time to deputise for him.

“But with a 16-day break before their next match against Manchester United, Chelsea could try to nurse Abraham through the Leicester game before giving him some time off.”

If this report holds true then the Chelsea boss could very well be playing with the long-term career of Tammy Abraham and if a major injury happens then Lampard will have only himself to blame since till the time this article is being written, the Blues have failed to bring in a backup striker.
