Wolves have joined Premier League rivals Aston Villa in the race to sign Tammy Abraham from Chelsea FC during the upcoming transfer window, as per Football Insider.

The report claims: “Wolves are preparing to battle Aston Villa and other top clubs to sign Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham this summer, Football Insider has learned.

“He has not featured in Chelsea’s last seven Premier League matches and was left out of the squad for the midweek draw against Brighton despite being fully fit. This has opened the door to Abraham’s many suitors, both in the top flight and on the Continent.

“A Wolves source has told Football Insider the club are planning to be in the race for the 23-year-old as they look to strengthen their attack.”

During the 2020-21 season, Tammy Abraham has played in only 21 Premier League games for the Blues, out of which just 12 have been in the starting line-up. Under Lampard, the forward still managed to get some game time but Thomas Tuchel is clearly not fond of him.

Tammy Abraham spent a successful loan season at Aston Villa which is why Dean Smith was confident that the forward will choose a move to Villa Park, should he decide to move out of Chelsea in the summer.

Now, the entry of Wolves is sure to make things a lot interesting especially since Tammy Abraham could get a chance to be the first-choice striker under Santo next season.

It’s still unclear in what capacity Raul Jimenez will feature next season so if Tammy Abraham decides to join Wolves, he could be leading the line week-in-week-out.

But Villa should be pretty confident on getting their hands on the 23-year-old since back in 2019, Abraham had rejected a move to Wolves to remain on loan at Aston Villa. And Smith will be hoping that the Chelsea misfit still has the same fondness for his side.

Tammy Abraham has two years left on his current deal but Thomas Tuchel should not have any issues in letting the forward leave at the end of the season – for the right price of course.
