Tammy Abraham Chelsea news

Tammy Abraham is the current rising star in the Premier League but the youngster has been closely challenged by Marcus Rashford.

The Chelsea forward has been in fine form since the start of the 2019-20 campaign but during the past couple of weeks, Rashford too has been in sensational form for his own club.

So far, Abraham has managed to net 11 goals in 15 league appearances for the London club while Marcus Rashford has found the net 10 times in 16 games for Manchester United.

While the goalscoring contest between the two youngsters has certainly drawn a lot of arguments and debates amongst their fans but it’s Gareth Southgate’s England side which is benefitting the most from this healthy contest.

These two players are undoubtedly the future of English football but according to former England defender Rio Ferdinand, right now Tammy Abraham is a tad bit ahead of Rashford.

‘He’s going to score a tremendous amount of goals because what he does is he wants to be in between the sticks, he wants to be in the centre of the goals to score goals,’ Ferdinand told BT Sport via The Metro.

‘He’s somebody who’s hungry and got a desire to score.

‘It’s a very good finish, it’s clean and clinical. He makes it look easy, it’s not an easy finish.

‘What I love about Tammy is his first instinct, his first thought is “get me in there, get me in there to hurt the opposition, get me in there to score goals”

‘It’s the positioning, some people will tell [Marcus] Rashford to get in that position and he’ll score five, six, seven, eight goals a season more.

‘This kid here, that’s all he wants to do, that’s an element of his game that doesn’t need working on. He’s scored goals at every level and he’s brought it into the first team.’
