Liverpool beat Wolves in the final game of the season but that 3-1 win has come at the expense of Thiago picking up an injury.

The midfielder provided a sublime assist for Liverpool’s equaliser on Sunday but he then limped off the pitch just seconds before the half-time whistle and it’s not a great sign for the Liverpool manager.

Thiago seems to have picked up a muscle injury and while Jurgen Klopp could not provide any major update but he’s made it clear that the Spaniard might be touch and go for the final.

“I don’t know, but it doesn’t look good in the moment because he was obviously limping with just six days left until the final,” Klopp told BBC Sport, as quoted by 90Min.

“I have no idea if [six days recovery time] will be enough. We will see if he is out, if he did [injured] his muscle then he will be out. But from the rest [of the team] I didn’t hear anything so they all should be alright.”

Will Thiago and Fabinho both miss the Champions League final?

Fabinho is also out injured but since he did not play on Sunday, he should be fit to play against Real Madrid. The same cannot be said about Thiago because the extent of his injury is not yet known and six days might not be enough for him to make a full recovery.

Thiago has been a key player for Liverpool and if he misses out then it will be a massive blow for Jurgen Klopp.

The midfielder has played in 24 Premier League games this season and as the campaign has progressed, Thiago has been responsible for controlling Liverpool’s tempo in each and every match.

Fabinho’s return will be a big boost for Klopp but if Thiago is absent then Jordan Henderson and Naby Keita will have to start alongside the Brazilian. Hendo will have no problems in enduring Real Madrid’s intensity but Naby Keita will be the major weak link in midfield.

There’s an option that Klopp uses a less than 100% Thiago in the Champions League final but that will basically be a license for players like Modric and Toni Kroos to run riot.
