Benjamin Mendy France and Man City

Manchester City won the Premier League last season in emphatic fashion and it seems that Guardiola’s men have started this campaign right where they left off.

City won their first league game of the season 2-0 against Arsenal and to be very honest Guardiola’s men did not even have to break a sweat in order to pick up all three points.

Raheem Sterling put the Citizens infront in the 14th minute and then Bernado Silva sealed off the game with a goal right after the hour mark.

Man City showed that last year’s performance was no fluke as they dominated almost every stat during the game – managing 58 per cent possession and having 9 shots on target.

While the fans will be content with everyone’s performance on Sunday but the fact that Benjamin Mendy had a wonderful outing after spending much of last season on the sidelines will be a great boost.

Mendy who was out for a number of months last season due to an injury provided both the assists against Arsenal but Pep Guardiola had mixed emotions about the player.

While the manager praised his performances on the field, Guardiola also advised the player to stay off social media a bit more.

The Man City manager said: “Mendy is Mendy. Sometimes we want to kill him and sometimes you think, wow, what a player we have,

“Hopefully we can convince him to forget a little bit the social media and improve a few things.”

And yes Mendy is Mendy so the responded to the comments of his manager is his typical way.

Benjamin Mendy spent almost seven months of the previous season on the sidelines with an ACL injury but despite playing only 7 games during the 2017-18 season he remained in the limelight primarily because of his social media activities.

But thank God he did not make a wild comment to Pep Guardiola’s criticism but rather took it in his stride and promised the manager to ‘mend’ his ways.
