Thomas Partey to Arsenal

Premier League side Arsenal have been chasing Atletico Madrid defensive midfielder Thomas Partey for as long as we can remember.

But now according to the Daily Mail, the Gunners have now been joined by a number of their English rivals in the race to sign the 26-year-old Ghanian international.

The report claims: “Thomas Partey is shaping up to be one of the bargain transfers of the summer and is now wanted by more clubs than just Arsenal, his father has said.

“Partey is available for the cut price of £45million due to a release clause in his contract with Atletico Madrid.

“Arsenal are reported to hold the strongest interest in the 26-year-old defensive midfielder, who is Ghana’s captain, but the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool are also said to be watching him closely.”

Thomas Partey heading to the PL:

Thomas Partey is a key figure in Diego Simeone’s first XI but as per the latest rumours, the player is ready to head out of Spain and play in the Premier League next season.

And up until now, it was being claimed that Arsenal were likely to land this transfer since the player himself is eager to play at the Emirates.

But now, the report from Daily Mail is sure to shake things up a bit since all the other interested clubs have the capability of overtaking Arsenal in the bid to sign Thomas Partey.

The likes of Man United, Liverpool and Man City are not only financially more strong than the Gunners but right now, they also have more power to entice the big-name players during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Also, Arsenal will not be playing in the Champions League next season which is another reason why teams like Man City and Liverpool might not find it difficult to leapfrog over them in this transfer race.

Man United also have the same authority but if Paul Pogba remains at the club then we don’t think Solskjaer will try and make a move for Thomas Partey during the summer.

This season, the 26-year-old has played in 24 La Liga games so far, managing to score two goals and his display against Liverpool in the Champions League right before the lockdown has really brought him into the limelight of all the major English clubs.
