Arsenal suffer a massive injury blow right before they take on Brighton: Out for several weeks?

Arsenal take on Brighton in the Premier League on Saturday and just 48 hours before this match, the Gunners have confirmed that Thomas Partey has picked up a serious injury.

The midfielder had sustained the thigh injury during Monday’s loss to Palace and after further assessment, Arsenal have revealed that Thomas Partey will be on the sidelines for some time.

An official statement read: “Our No. 5 was substituted during Monday night’s game against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park after aggravating his right thigh.

“Thomas has since received further assessments, and a subsequent scan has shown muscle damage to his right thigh.

“We will continue to assess Thomas in the coming weeks, during which time he will also receive further specialist consultations.

“Everyone will be working hard to get Thomas back on the pitch as soon as possible.”

How long will Thomas Partey be out of action for?

Thomas Partey had missed several games last season due to various injury setbacks and this fresh one could not have come at a worse time for Mikel Arteta.

Kieran Tierney has just been ruled out for the remainder of the season and now this damage to Partey might turn out to be a killer blow for Arsenal.

The update does not provide a time frame for his return but as per the media gossip, it seems like Thomas Partey is going to be out for at least a few weeks.

Some rumours claim he could be out until the mid of May.

Who is going to replace Thomas Partey in midfield?

In the absence of Thomas Partey, Lokonga is the logical choice to partner Granit Xhaka in central midfield but we doubt if the pair will be good enough.

The manager also has Elneny at his disposal but neither of them is as good as Thomas Partey and if the midfielder is genuinely out for a month then the Arsenal boss will immediately have to make plans to face teams like Chelsea, West Ham and Man United without the Ghanian international.
