Thomas Partey to Arsenal

Arsenal might no longer be interested in signing defensive midfielder Thomas Partey from La Liga side Atletico Madrid, as per a report in talkSPORT.

The report cites Sport claiming: “Arsenal have withdrawn from the race to sign Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey, according to reports.

“The Gunners reportedly failed with a bid of £22million plus Matteo Guendouzi last week.

“And now Sport claim they have given up their long-term pursuit of the Ghana international, who has a £45m release clause.”

Will Thomas Partey remain at Atletico Madrid?

Thomas Partey has been tipped to join the Premier League side for some time now but as the weeks have gone by, this transfer buzz has been dying down slowly.

At one point, it seemed as if it was only a matter of time before Arsenal were able to get their hands on the Ghanian international. But now it seems like, things are not as easy as it seems.

We are still not sure why the Gunners have chosen to abandon the pursuit for the Atletico Madrid man but there’s a buzz that Arteta might be trying to bring in Thiago Alcantara instead.

Recent reports have suggested that Arsenal are interested in signing Thiago from Bayern Munich who also happens to be a transfer target for Liverpool.

It’s pretty clear that the North London side will be able to get their hands on Thiago so easily but the fact that they have chosen to end the chase for Thomas Partey gives a clear indication that Liverpool have a tough fight in their hands.
