Thomas Partey to Arsenal
Thomas Partey

Arsenal look all set to miss out on Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey & it’s more or less official.

Recently, the player’s father had said in an interview that Arsenal were in talks with his son’s representatives over a possible deal which immediately raised a massive storm in the media.

Now JJ Sports, the agency which manages Thomas Partey has quickly come out to clear the air about this whole issue by refuting all the claims made over the past couple of months.

They wrote in a statement: “Given the information in Thomas’ father’s statements, we want to make it clear that we talk to Thomas’ father every day and claim that all statements related to Thomas’ father are totally false.

“As we said yesterday, we’ve been with Atletico for many years and if had been for money, we would no longer be in Atletico. I hope that before reporting any news that does not fit reality, you first verify it with us.”

And if this was not proof enough, Thomas’ team have also put out their own statement in which they made it clear that the midfielder very much remains an Atletico Madrid player for the time being.

The statement read: “Quick Note !!! In the midst of the transfer period, a lot of stories are created, manufactured and also alleged until the final day of the transfer period.

“Mostly adds up to the hype and promotion of the beautiful game. Father of Thomas Partey might have said something but can we also put everything aside and respect the official communication from his management JJSports.

“At this period a lot of persons (some media personnel) in search of exclusive stories would want to pounce on conversations around just to suit their agenda.

“The fact is that any statement heard was an opinion clearly misinterpreted to suit a particular agenda. There has been nothing officially communicated or no such conversations between the player and anybody.

“There is absolutely no truth in what the player’s dad was alleged to have said. We wish the media and all fans will embrace the official message from the player’s agent and not any family member or friend. We are not in normal times, let’s keep believing everything will be back to normal and football will take its place once more in the heart of many.”

Should Arsenal wait for Thomas Partey?

These two statements basically mean Arsenal are back to square one on this deal and now they must now look elsewhere to try and find a replacement for Granit Xhaka.

Atletico Madrid have already offered Thomas Partey a new deal at the club in which his release clause is set to be doubled but we feel, Arsenal should still keep a keen eye on this whole scenario.

The reported new release clause of £90 million will put the player out of reach for a number of big clubs which is why there’s a chance that Thomas might refuse to put pen on paper on this new deal.

And if this is truly the case then Arsenal will still have a chance of signing him during the summer transfer window.
