Timo Werner to Chelsea EPL

Timo Werner endured a tough season with Chelsea and according to 90min, the forward is now open to a move out of the club as the Blues are out in the market for a new striker.

The report claims: “Timo Werner is open to the idea of leaving Chelsea this summer, 90min understands, as the Blues pursue a new top class striker.

“Chelsea beat Liverpool and Bayern Munich to Werner’s signature last summer when the player decided not to wait until 2021 to leave RB Leipzig.

“However, things did not go according to plan individually for Werner last season, as just six league goals followed under Frank Lampard and Thomas Tuchel. He did manage to help Chelsea seal a top four place and pick up a Champions League winners’ medal though, so it wasn’t all bad.

“One major issue for Werner though is the fact that Chelsea have made no secret of their determination to sign a new world-class striker ahead of the 2021/22 season.”

Is Timo Werner heading out of Chelsea?

The German international had a really tough time in the Premier League but he still managed to score six and assist 12 goals in 35 league games for the Blues last season.

But, six goals is not what is expected from Chelsea’s top striker which is why Thomas Tuchel is so keen to add a new centre-forward before the new season begins.

The Blues have been linked with players like Erling Haaland, Robert Lewandowski and Harry Kane and the way they are moving in the market, Tuchel should get a new striker very soon.

That does not mean the manager will let Timo Werner move out any time soon, especially since Olivier Giroud has now left the club.

Werner joined the London club last year so Chelsea are in no hurry to cash in on him, even if they bring in another top quality centre-forward during the ongoing transfer window.
