Chelsea picked up their first win in the Premier League under new boss Thomas Tuchel, beating Burnley 2-0 but forward Timo Werner went on to have yet another average outing on Sunday.

The German was handed a start by Tuchel, playing on the left wing but the forward still could not find the back of the net as the Blues won thanks to goals from Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso.

And speaking about the win, Tuchel indirectly asked his forwards, including Timo Werner to pull up their socks and start scoring more frequently.

“Very pleased with the performance and very important to win,” he said, as reported.

“It gives us confidence otherwise you have to convince players you’re on the right track.

“Defensively and offensively it was very good. We controlled the match completely never lost our intensity and awareness.

“It should be a signal to our guys upfront that two defensive guys scored. We will work on this because we had a lot of touches in the box, a lot of deliveries.

“But in the end I couldn’t care less than we scored through Marcos and Azpi.”

Timo Werner had three shots during the match but none of them were on target and with just four goals in 20 games in the Premier League, things are starting to look a bit tense for the summer signing.

Thomas Tuchel will undoubtedly give the German more time to prove himself but with players like Hudson-Odoi and Pulisic starting to find their groove again, we don’t think the new boss will have patience for too long.

Next up, the Blues take on Spurs in a London Derby in midweek and it wouldn’t be a total surprise if Timo Werner is moved to the bench if the manager hands Christian Pulisic a start against Jose Mourinho’s side.
