Thomas Meunier to Chelsea

Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly eyeing a move for former Man United transfer target Thomas Meunier – according to a report.

The player was on Man United’s radar last season but they eventually went on to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace but the PSG man still remains of high value in the transfer market.

Thomas Meunier has been heavily linked with a move out of PSG in the summer but last month, the player had made it clear that his full focus is playing with the Parisian outfit as of now.

Meunier told RTBF, via Metro: ‘A free, international player, who plays in the FIFA ranked world’s No.1 team [Belgium] and who is 28 years old, it cannot be a bad buy, even if I get gangrene and I have to cut off a leg!

‘Clubs don’t have much to lose in the investment, and I think they know it. They have everything to gain.

‘Everything that circulates on me on social media versus Dortmund, I don’t understand: I’ve seen so many articles linking me to Tottenham or Inter. I don’t understand this craze. My main objective is always to stay in Paris, but for the moment it’s pretty calm.’

The right-back though is set to be a free agent in the summer and now it’s being claimed that Jose Mourinho is keen to sign him as for Tottenham.

The report claims, Mourinho has had a conversation with Thomas Meunier over the phone and has urged him to join the London outfit next season.

The player has not had a good working relationship with Thomas Tuchel this season and if he joins Tottenham then undoubtedly, he’ll be a fine addition to the squad as well as Mourinho’s long-term plans.

But as things stand, it’s Daniel Levy who does not want to make a move for Thomas Meunier since the club already have Serge Aurier who plays in the same role.

Levy does not wish to add competition for the same position next season since he’s not sure about Meunier and there’s also a risk that Aurier might look to move out of the club in case his former PSG teammate arrives at White Hart Lane.
