Brendan Rodgers Leicester City vs Man United

Tottenham Hotspur have made a move to bring in Brendan Rodgers from Leicester City but as per The Daily Mail, the manager is not interested in joining the North London club.

The report claims: “Tottenham have failed in a fresh move to persuade Brendan Rodgers to become the club’s next manager. Julian Nagelsmann and Rodgers were Spurs chairman Daniel Levy’s preferred two candidates to replace Jose Mourinho, who was sacked last week.

“Sportsmail understands that new overtures have been made over the past 48 hours with regards to gauging whether Rodgers would be interested in taking the job.

“However, it is understood the Northern Irishman’s stance has not changed. Rodgers is on the brink of guiding his team back into the Champions League and wants the opportunity to pit the team he has built against the best in Europe next season.

“The former Liverpool boss also has a firm grip in Leicester’s football operation, not something he will necessarily have at Tottenham.”

Nagelsmann is heading to Bayern Munich in the summer and there’s no doubt that someone like Brendan Rodgers would have been the ideal choice, after the young Bundesliga manager. But now even the Leicester boss has refused to come to Tottenham Hotspur.

Daniel Levy has obviously chosen to sack Jose Mourinho at a really awkward time since no big manager will want to risk coming into a club that cannot offer Champions League or even European football for that matter.

Rodgers has done a great job at Leicester City over the past year or so and they look all set to play in the UCL. So, there’s no way he will risk joining Tottenham Hotspur, a club that are currently seventh on the table.

After Mourinho’s departure, and Brendan Rodgers’ refusal, not too many big names are available in the market so Daniel Levy will once again have to gamble with a relatively inexperienced manager.

Various reports have suggested that the Tottenham Hotspur head is not too keen to drag this saga into the summer so, if things fall into place then the North London side is likely to have a new boss before the current season ends.
