Tottenham Hotspur makes a mockery out of Hull City

Tottenham Hotspur might have lost out on the opportunity to win the Premier League. Yet again. But that did not stop them from showing their brilliance against a relegated Hull City.

Spurs won the match 7-1. Yes, 7-1. Away from home. And there was one man who took centre stage. It was Harry Kane. Kane came up with a hat trick on the night for Spurs. And rightly went home with the golden boot. He now becomes the first Englishman to win back to back golden boots since Micheal Owen achieved the feat just before the turn of the century.

The other four goals were scored by Wanyama, Dele Alli, Ben Davies, and Toby Alderweireld.

Harry Kane is a class apart:

Ok. Enough of the match report. Now let’s take a moment and talk about the magician that is Harry Kane.

With the hat trick, Kane finished the season with 29 Premier League goals. 29 goals in a season where has faced two serious injuries. This alone speaks volumes of his talent. The graph of Harry Kane is just going upwards. In the last three seasons, he has scored, 21, 25, and 29 goals respectively. In a league where many players fail to perform in two consecutive seasons, Harry Kane has done it for the third year in a row.

Kane is currently on 78  goals for Spurs. And he hopes that by this time next year he will have a hundred goals for the London club.

Harry Kane has not yet finished celebrating his success and the Spurs manager Pochettino has already set a new benchmark for him. Pochettino feels that Kane should target 30 goals for the next season. He feels that Kane is still young and learning. And that he has the talent to reach 30 goals. Come on, let the boy breathe.

But we have all seen what Harry Kane can do. He is certainly not a one season wonder. So we will certainly not bet against him scoring 30 goals next season.

Can Spurs win the league?

Spurs finished the season in second spot and with 86 points. While this was not enough to beat Chelsea to the title, but Pochettino firmly believes that his team can win the title next season.

Pochettino who had to watch Chelsea’s title celebration from the Hull newsroom said that another season and they can definitely win the title.

‘We have set our level higher and now have a good platform to go on next season and try to win the league, winning some trophies, that’s the aim.’

It will definitely be an uphill task because the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool will jump right back into the title race. Pep Guardiola is also slowly and steadily turning City into a juggernaut. But with the kind of team that they have, Spurs are definitely capable of lifting the trophy.
