West Ham United have shown a great deal of interest in signing Fiorentina centre-back Nikola Milenkovic, but according to journalist Alfredo Pedulla, it’s Tottenham Hotspur who are likely to get their hands on him.

Tottenham blog The Boy Hotspur relays the report: “According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, the Hammers are willing to offer just £12.7million for his signature, but it isn’t enough to tempt Fiorentina into selling.

“Spurs is now set to win the race for his signature with the report claiming that they will offer £15million to sign him.

“Juventus is another club that wants to sign him, but the Old Lady will also struggle to outbid Tottenham because their transfer budget is limited and a new defender isn’t their priority now.”

Do West Ham still stand a chance to sign Nikola Milenkovic?

Initially, it was West Ham United who were the frontrunners in signing Nikola Milenkovic but it looks like David Moyes is not ready to splash more than £13 million on the centre-back.

It’s being claimed that the Hammers boss has asked his management not to pursue the defender which means Tottenham Hotspur now have a free hand in signing the 23-year-old.

The Hammers though are continued to be linked with Kurt Zouma so maybe Moyes is shifting all his focus to the Chelsea defender.

As far as Spurs are concerned they are getting a pretty sweet deal since Nikola Milenkovic is currently valued at £22.5 million but since he has only one year left on his current deal, Fiorentina cannot quote a high price.

Tottenham Hotspur have already signed Cristian Romero this summer so the arrival of Milenkovic will mean that Nuno will now have seven central defenders in his first-team squad.
