Tottenham Hotspur had a brilliant start to their season, beating Manchester City 1-0 at home but in typical Spurs fashion, they slumped to a 0-1 loss to FC Pacos de Ferreira in the Conference League.

This though will be a minor hiccup for Nuno’s side since the manager rested most of his first-team regulars for the midweek fixture and almost all of them should return to action when Tottenham take on Wolves on Sunday.

Nuno will be focusing on picking up all three points but the new boss is yet to figure out his best XI and with Harry Kane still being linked with Manchester City, the manager will have a key selection decision to make.

Including Tottenham, 10 clubs managed to pick up wins in the first matchweek of the season meaning a win against Wolves will help the North London side keep pace with the other top-six sides. Anything other than three points could likely push them to the bottom half of the table.

Tottenham Hotspur teams news vs Wolves:

Sanchez and Eric Dier paired up in central defence against Manchester City and since Romero played in midweek in the Conference League, these two will be back in the starting line-up on Sunday.

Tanganga pulled out the performance of a lifetime as he kept Raheem Sterling and Jack Grealish at bay last weekend. That performance is enough to award him another start.

Oliver Skipp was a bit of a surprise selection against Manchester City but he did a great job in defensive midfield. Skipp is expected to start once again – ahead of players like Harry Winks and Sissoko.

Dele Alli was given the chance to redeem his career by using him in the No 10 role in the first matchweek and based on his performance, Nuno Espirito Santo is likely to select him once again.

The manager does have the option of using Giovani Lo Celso in place of Alli if he wants.

All eyes will be on Harry Kane since he did not feature vs Man City and he also did not travel with the squad for the Conference League.

His participation against Wolves remains a doubt and even the Tottenham Hotspur boss has refused to drop any hints.

The manager said on Thursday, as quoted: “He is better than yesterday. And hopefully he is going to be better tomorrow. This is how all the players who are working should be. Day by day. Recovering and progressing in terms of fitness.”

Lucas Moura and Son were both rested in midweek but they will be back in the side against Wolves and if Harry Kane is not starting then Bergwijn will also get to feature.
