Tottenham Hotspur were dealt another blow in the top-four race as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Newcastle United in their previous game and next up, they face Manchester United on Sunday.
The draw means Spurs go into this game, sixth on the league table and if they fail to pick up a win this weekend then they will fall further behind in the Champions League qualification race.
Jose Mourinho’s side go into this game having won their last 3 home matches in the league and the last time these two sides met, Tottenham Hotspur won that game 6-1. And the Lilywhites fans will be hoping their team can pull off a similar performance on Sunday as well.
Mourinho missed a few key players during the Newcastle United but they are expected to return to the side which could prompt the manager to make a change in formation.
Tottenham Hotspur team news vs Man United:
Toby Alderweireld and Serge Aurier missed the trip to Newcastle after returning from international duty too late to undertake the Covid-19 test but the pair should be featuring in the starting line-up this weekend.
Joe Rodon will move to the bench with Alderweireld partnering Sanchez in central defence while Aurier plays at right-back. Full-backs Ben Davies and Matt Doherty are both ruled out for this match.
Hojbjerg and Ndombele seem to be the first-choice defensive midfield pairing for the Tottenham boss right now but Jose is known to add an extra defensive layer for the big games. So it will not be a big surprise to see Ndombele being replaced by Sissoko.
Lo Celso played out wide against the Magpies but he’s likely to play as the attacking midfielder this time around.
The return of Son will force the manager to change his formation at the expense of Carlos Vinicius with the South Korean and Moura playing as the two wide men. Harry Kane will lead the line.
Mourinho will once again look to set up a defensive side on Sunday against Manchester United but the Tottenham Hotspur boss will also have to ensure that his side pick up a win. Or else, they will be playing in the Europa League once again.
