The Premier League Champions have been hijacked, yet again this season with their bid for striker Fernando Llorente being accepted.

The Spaniard was subject to interest by the Blues as well, having played under Antonio Conte at Juventus.

Chelsea are expected to make a counter offer and Llorente’s destination is said to be too close to call.

Swansea manager Paul Clement had said he was confident of keeping Llorente at the Liberty Stadium earlier this week but did admit “something can come out of absolutely nowhere” ahead of Deadline Day.

The Swans are now prepared to let the Spain international leave if they can get a replacement in time.

Paul Clement’s side had a £12m bid for Portugal striker Nelson Oliveira rejected by Norwich but they are confident of re-signing Wilfried Bony from Manchester City.

Italian side Hellas Verona want Bony on loan but City want a permanent deal.

If Llorente does join Spurs, it is possible that Dutch striker Vincent Janssen will be on his way out of the club.

Llorente joined the Welsh based side Swansea in August last season and scored 15 goals in the League that saw them just avoid relegation.

Llorente has previously played under Chelsea boss Antonio Conte when the pair were at Juventus, where he scored 23 goals in 66 Serie A appearances.

The 6ft 4in striker spent nine seasons at Athletic Bilbao, before a trophy-laden two years at Juventus and then a year at Sevilla.

He has scored seven goals in 24 appearances for Spain, winning the 2010 World Cup.

Both the London based sides are looking to add more steel to their forward line. Spurs need a more reliable backup to Harry Kane with Janssen proving to be ineffective whereas Chelsea are looking for a partner to support new recruit Alvaro Morata and Belgian Michy Batshuayi.

Llorente would be more than just an able backup as his vast experience will prove to be extremely vital, especially as the clubs compete in four competitions this season and games likely to come thick and fast.
