Manchester City picked up a superb win over Liverpool on Saturday but this win has been somewhat tainted by hateful chanting from the home fans.

City won the match 4-1 as they tore apart Liverpool but once the match was done, an object was thrown at Liverpool’s coach during their return journey and the Cityzens have confirmed that the coach sustained damage.

Their official statement read: “We understand an object was thrown towards the coach in a residential area.

“Incidents of this kind are totally unacceptable, and we strongly condemn the actions of the individual(s) responsible. We will fully support Greater Manchester Police’s investigation into this incident in any way we can.”

If this was not enough then the Etihad Stadium fans were involved in hateful chanting. A section of home supporters chanted “always the victim, it’s never your fault” which was directed at the travelling Liverpool fans.

They have said: “Additionally, the Club is disappointed to have heard inappropriate chants from home fans during the game today.

“We regret any offence these chants may have caused and will continue to work with supporter groups and officials from both clubs to eradicate hateful chanting from this fixture.”

Liverpool have not yet officially commented on this matter but it’s really inappropriate to see such a fine game being marred by such heartless incidents.

These things will hurt even more because Liverpool suffered a humiliating 4-1 defeat and in their next two matches, they will take on Chelsea and Arsenal.

Man City, on the other hand, have remained the push on league leaders Arsenal and they are currently eight points behind the Gunners with a game in hand.
