England fined UEFA EURO 2020
EURO 2020

England beat Germany 2-0 in the Round of 16 and on the very same day, Ukraine went past Sweden 2-1. Now, these two sides will face off against each other in the quarter-finals of the European Championship.

England managed to neutralize the German threat as they came up with one of the best defensive performances we have seen in a really long time from a national side.

Ukraine, on the other hand, managed to win the game thanks to a 121st-minute goal from Dovbyk, as the match went into extra time.

There’s no denying that Gareth Southgate’s side will be the odds out favourites to pick up a win in this fixtures but Ukraine, under Andriy Shevchenko cannot be totally written off, especially after the grit and determination they showed against Sweden.

Ukraine vs England Stats:

  1. England and Ukraine have faced each other seven times and only once have The Blue and Yellow been able to pick up a win( a 1-0 victory in 2009).

2. Both these sides have met only won once in a major tournament that was in EURO 2012, a game which England won 1-0 thanks to Rooney’s goal.

3. England are yet to concede a goal in this edition of the European Championship, making them the second side to achieve this feat after Germany in 2016.

4. Ukraine have managed to score only three goals in their seven meetings against England but interestingly, the Three Lions have not been able to beat Ukraine in their previous two meetings. The last one coming in September 2013.
