Juventus join Valencia in the race to sign this Man United benchwarmer: A deal possible?

Man United man Juan Mata is set to be a free agent in the summer and after Valencia, it looks like Italian giants Juventus are also keen to sign him – according to JuveFC.

JuveFC cite Calciomercato saying: “According to reports in the Spanish media via Calciomercato, Juventus are showing interest in Juan Mata, whose contract with Manchester United expires by the end of the season.”

The playmaker has fallen down the pecking order at Man United over the past couple of seasons and there’s a big chance that Solskjaer will not offer him a new deal beyond the summer.

Man United do have the option to extend his contract by one more year but we think Juan Mata would ask to leave at the end of this season and given his good relationship with the manager, Ole will not disagree.

Will Juan Mata choose Valencia or Juventus?

A move to Juventus would be a great option for Mata but the Old Lady are not the only club interested in signing him since La Liga side Valencia are also eager to bring him back to the club he had left in 2011.

According to The Sun, Valencia owner Peter Lim is more than happy to bring back Juan Mata to the club since he’s available on a free transfer but now with the potential interest from Juventus, it will be interesting to see how the Spanish side react.

Juve are experts in the Bosman market and with such an inflated wage bill, the Serie A side just cannot side big name players right now.

So it’s quite evident why they would want to sign the Man United man in the summer by agreeing to a pre-contract this month.

At 32, a move to a club like Juventus will surely be a move up the ladder for Juan Mata but with some many stars players up front, the Man United midfielder will hardly get any game time next season.

But if he was to choose a move to his former club, Mata will surely play an influential role at the club, more so given the poor form of the club this season.
